Mexico Lap Band Disaster

By d.kp_2010 – May 4, 2010

I originally met Dr. Frenzel for a possible breast enhancement. After reading my medical history, Dr. F. inquired about my Lap Band procedure, which I had done in Mexico several years earlier.

I had no idea that he was a bariactric surgeon as well. I explained that I had a botched job in Mexico, the port becoming infected soon after the procedure, searching to find a Dr. to remove the port at that time was most difficult. I finally found someone to remove it, but never went back to have the lap band removed. Dr. Frenzel said that removing the lap band was more important than the breast enhancement.

I call him my miracle because he was right. Soon after I saw Dr. Frenzel I started having major problems with the band. To make a long story shorter, Dr. F. removed the band and repaired all the damage. The band (not the brand name band I had been promised in Mexico) was removed, scar tissue was repaired and the damage from the band eroding into my stomach. He showed me the pictures of my stomach, which can only be described as ghastly. Dr. Frenzel was very supportive before, during and after my surgery.

He is truly a gem. I would highly recommend him for any plastic surgery procedure or bariactric procedure! I also admire Dr. F. for his humanitarian commitment. He travels to 3rd world countries providing his surgery skills. Google his name and read more about this. I will definitely go to Dr. Frenzel for future procedures! He is the BEST!!!

Dear Dr. Frenzel,

Thank you for providing my recent care and prior months of care each time I have needed it on an immediate and ongoing basis. Although my bariatric journey began with another- it will continue here because I admire and respect your professionalism. I am thankful you landed in my life when I needed the very best care. You help my journey, provide encouragement and are up front. You have met my needs above and beyond my expectations. I appreciate you!!

My Dear Dr. Frenzel,

I would like to “thank you” personally for what you did for my son. Not many doctors would take the time on a Saturday to operate on someone that is not a patient of theirs because he needed it immediately. Mary has told me so much about you and how you helped her through her weight loss surgery. You are indeed a Miracle Worker!!

God has given you a wonderful gift and a wonderful heart. A heart that cares and feels for people.

You also took care of my angel Mary’s facial trauma on the spur of the moment. These two Mary’s are so important to our family; they are like daughters to us. When Mary said you helped Phil even though he wasn’t a patient of yours I was so very thankful to you, so very much. Dr. Frenzel, you will be in my prayers everyday so that the Lord will bless you and your practice and continue to guide your hands in your surgeries. I have never in my life known a doctor that would work on the weekends because his or her patients needed them. Everything was always put off until the weekdays.

You are indeed a one of a kind Doctor! There should be more physicians like you. It would make a much better world. Thank you again for all that you have done. God bless you and be with you always.

Sincerely,
Mrs. L.J.

Dear Dr. Frenzel,

Just over two years ago, I began my journey- to attain a goal, which to that point in my life had eluded me. I, like so many others who have walked in my shoes, simply could not maintain any type of weight loss. On October 18th 2007, my birthday, I had the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass performed. After successfully losing 165 pounds and maintaining that loss, phase one had come to fruition.

The next steps in my journey led me to you. However, no matter how evolved the human tongue, the language simply does not exist to adequately thank a person for restoring another’s ability to dream. And that Dr. Frenzel, is exactly what you have done. It is a gift beyond measure.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve been enchanted by hummingbirds. As a severely overweight person, I’ve envied the way these tiny birds maneuver. With wings blurred to our eyes, the hummingbird seems to float more that fly. Hovering weightless, agile and free.

So with all that being said, despite having lost a considerable amount of weight, I still did not perceive myself differently; I was still the same morbidly obese women I had always been. With your immense patience, understanding, caring and surgical skill, you have helped change my perception drastically.

I appreciate more fully now, how all the loose, hanging skin trapped my small frame and pinned my spirit to the ground. I also realize, phase two will be a multi-year multi-layer project but I consider the pioce de resistance to have already been accomplished. (I don’t know many women whom don’t want to look wonderful in their clothes.)

However, I digress. The final realization, perhaps the most significant, I would like you there every step of the way. What more is there to say, “You are the best!!”

A few years ago I began photographing my favorite birds. Many hours and much patience have gone into this hobby. I hope you enjoy the picture. It’s the only gift I could think of which might come close to expressing my enduring gratitude for all you have done.

May God be with You always,
-M.E.

Aoril 2010
Dear Dr. Frenzel, Denise, Cheryl and Leslie,

No goal is reached single handed. We all have help along the way- be it the encouragement of parents, that extra push from a teacher or in this case the skill of a capable surgeon and his caring and uplifting staff.

Each visit to Advanced Bariatric Surgery has been a positive experience. Each and every one of you are warm and caring and have done so much to restore my confidence and value as a person. Please know you are all deeply appreciated.

Dr. Frenzel, thank you for your patience and understanding and for listening. You are not only an excellent surgeon but a beautiful human being.

Now I can finally dream.

With Warmest Regards,

-M.E., 2010

Hello Dr. Frenzel, This is Tamala from Cali. Just an update. It has been 2 yrs since my lap band surgery. I feel great, still holding at 165 lbs. Just wanted to tell you thanks for all you have done for me. I haven’t felt this good in a long time.

A New Day and Time in Life

By jselena1986 – May 18, 2010

I knew something had to give; something had to change. I was an emotional eater; I would desperately go out of my way to do things that would make me appear smaller. Pay higher prices for clothes that would camouflage my thick frame, insist on taking pictures from a side view, cross my thighs while standing, avoid activities such as swimming, tennis, bowling and gatherings.

If I had only put a fraction of all that energy and motivation into eating healthy (monitoring what I was ate) and exercising I wouldn’t have been in a shell and overweight for some 21 years. Though out this time, I experienced depression, mood swings, dehydration, lack of confidence and low self-esteem.

The more weight I gained only made me more depressed-it was atrocious. I tried all the weight loss gimmicks: pills, teas, drinks, patches, even starvation…it took me three months to lose 3 pounds and if I ate like a normal person for 2 days I’d gained 10 lbs back—it was unstoppable. It wasn’t until I had borderline diseases and placed on high priced meds before I started exercising.

By then it was too late, I had gained so much weight that my joints ache, I had a rattled central nervous system, continually twist my ankles and would run out of breath just walking from the car to the house. Allow me to share something to those facing similar challenges. Five years ago, I went to a weight loss doctor (a different doctor, during this time I hadn’t met Dr. Frenzel) and received the lap band.

I was having serious complications from that lap band: certain foods wouldn’t stay down, constant pain on my left (port) side etc. The doctor wasn’t concerned and continued to string me along before I knew it two years had past (which made me more depressed -because during the two years I only lost 35lbs) so I stopped treatments and gained the weight back.

After three years of doing this, it became more and more difficult to swallow water without additional complications- soo much pain. THAT WAS IT…I wanted it removed and this time from a different doctor. I met Dr. Frenzel, expressed my concerns and requested the removal of the band. He was so accommodating (he agreed to remove the band) and wanted to entertain another option (another procedure).

WHAT…R U KIDDING ME.

I was so determined to have it removed and go home and sit down somewhere until I didn’t know what to do.

I WASN’T HEARING IT-CAN YOU FEEL ME- I WASN’T HEARING IT.

I’d been overweight for 21 years, had tried everything under the sun and he couldn’t tell me anything I don’t already know BUT ultimately after talking with him I was surprised to learn valuable techniques I’d never considered before. Dr. Frenzel was more concerned about a solution because the problem still exists (I was obese- which was true). He expressed concerns about me obtaining a greater quality of life (for me and my family); to live a longer healthier life, to be motivated and educated health wise and most of all to be held accountable for my health. Words I didn’t want to hear but admittedly it was true and it took me to a new approach of optimum health.

Dr. Frenzel completed the Lap Band to the Gastric Sleeve conversion in December 2009. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. In the past, I was avoiding activities because of my appearance and now I am 46 lbs lighter enjoying life fully. My demeanor is so much happier, my outlook and determination have greatly improved. My self-esteem is high; I am positive and very confident as I continue to lose additional weight.

Dr. Frenzel and staff has changed my life in so many ways, the weight loss is amazing, the new/eating/workout habits are great but most of all –my favorite part is the compliments and the admirations I get from friends/family and the approaches from new acquaintances- oh did i mention the shopping-mmm.

YOU KNOW I AM EATING IT ALL UP!

Thank you, Dr. Frenzel, you are an angel….Selena

Gastric Sleeve Success

September 5, 2010

I went through a year and a half long weight loss, life style change, etc class and was not able to keep what little weight I lost off. I attended several seminars on weight loss procedures. I went on line and studied everything I could find out about weight loss.

The weight loss doctor I was seeing, recommenced I go hear what Dr. Clayton Frenzel had to say about surgery. I liked everything about Dr. Frenzel. He is nice, friendly, and will answer any questions you have. He did my surgery on February 19. I had to stay in the hospital one night and went home the next morning. I was a little sore for about three days.

I never got sick or nauseated. My incisions were very small and did not hurt at all. There were no stitches, just a little glue over them. I could shower the next day. I ate liquid/soft food for the first several days such as yogurt, Jell-O, soup, pudding, and protein drinks. Dr. Frenzel called me several time at home to see how I was doing. He gave me his cell number to use if I needed to talk to him. I did call on Sunday to ask about taking some medicine. He was very helpful on the phone and took care of a problem I was having with my pharmacy.

I went to see Dr. Frenzel in one week and I was doing great. I went back in one month and I had already lost 32 pounds. As of May 6, 2010 I have lost forty seven pounds. I am so excited about how easy it has been for me to lose weight. My new smaller stomach will only allow me to eat about four ounces of food at a time. I always make sure to eat my protein first. I do eat before school, usually oatmeal, cereal or toast/peanut butter. I have a break from 9:05-10:00. I try to eat some protein such as yogurt or drink a protein drink. For lunch, I bring left overs from dinner the night before. I just eat a small amount.

It is great because that is all I want. I feel full and satisfied with just a small amount of food. On my drive home from work, I will have a yogurt or some other small protein snack. I do some kind of exercise every evening. I either ride my horse, my bike, or walk my dog. For dinner I have whatever my family is having or maybe just tune salad on crackers. I do try to drink as much water as I can because I am not much of a water drinker. I do not drink Cokes any more. If I go out to eat with someone, I just use common sense and eat a small amount.

That works great for me! The best thing about the Gastric Sleeve is that your new stomach helps you to control your portion size. I feel full and don’t obsess about food any more. I can now walk from my car to the school building without huffing and puffing. I am wearing clothes that I haven’t been able to get into for a couple of years. I still need to lose 44 more pounds but I know I will be able to do it now.

My self esteem has improved so much I can’t explain it. My only regret is that I didn’t know about this surgery years ago. My daughter had the Lap Band surgery and she has been very pleased with her results too. She did not have as much weight to lose as I did so for her that surgery was perfect. The gastric sleeve was perfect for me. If you meet with Dr. Frenzel, he can discuss the pros and cons of each type of surgery for you.

If YOU are interested in becoming healthier, more energetic, and improve the quality of your life, you can call Dr. Clayton Frenzel and set up an appointment to go talk with him.

His numbers are 817-342-0232 or 1-888-REAL-Weight Loss(888-732-5934) .

One of his offices is in Arlington near the new Cowboys Stadium. I hope this information has helped you. If you have any more questions please e-mail me. I will be glad to help in any way I can. Sincerely, D.H.
