Bruce Markman, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at North Texas Orthopaedic & Spine in Allen, Texas. He has over 20 years of experience with arthroscopies, shoulder reconstruction surgeries, and surgeries of the elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle.

With over two decades of experience in his field, Dr. Markman has honed his skills and expertise to become one of the most respected figures in his field, operating out of North Texas Orthopaedic & Spine in Plano and Frisco, Texas.

Dr. Markman’s journey into the world of medicine began at the State University of New York and the prestigious Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, where he graduated 2nd in his class, setting the foundation for a dazzling career. From there, he moved to the University of California at San Francisco, where he undertook his surgery internship at one of the top-ranking hospitals in the United States. Dr. Markman’s pursuit of excellence didn’t end there, as he went on to complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center, followed by a fellowship at the West Coast Center for Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, with a focus on sports medicine, arthroscopy, and shoulder, foot, and ankle surgeries.

Dr. Markman’s skills extend far beyond the operating room, and he has played an instrumental role as the team physician for the Tulsa Oilers of the East Coast Hockey League and the Tulsa Shock of the Women’s National Basketball Association in Oklahoma. Today, he continues to give athletes and other patients the gift of an active, comfortable life.

In addition to his hands-on work, Dr. Markman has contributed to the medical community through his scholarly pursuits, with two publications in the esteemed New England Journal of Medicine.

In recent years, Dr. Markman has taken on the role of Medical Director for FirstNation Health, where he oversees medical claims and case management decisions that directly impact the quality of care and cost savings for their partners. All medical staff report to him regarding cost containment and cost reduction processes.

Dr. Markman’s work has not gone unnoticed. In 2016 and 2017, D Magazine named him among the best doctors in Dallas, a testament to his unparalleled expertise and the respect he commands in his field.
